The abFil PLA 850 antibacterial filament is manufactured in Spain from NatureWorks INGEO 3D850 PLA and features antibacterial protection, certified with ISO 22196 , thanks to the incorporation of silver ions.

INGEO 3D850 PLA is completely biodegradable and specifically developed for use in 3D printing. It is considered the best PLA on the market, allowing for faster printing speeds and providing better mechanical properties than other PLA filaments. Furthermore, its thermal properties (rapid crystallization) allow for faster cooling, which translates into better definition .

Silver ions act on bacteria in three ways, ensuring their effectiveness: they prevent bacterial growth, they interfere with enzyme production, preventing the cell from producing energy, and they disrupt DNA replication.

The main advantage over other antibacterial technologies is that the silver ions become part of the piece itself, not a coating. This provides permanent protection to the piece without fading over time.

Silver ions have a proven 99.99% efficacy in inhibiting bacterial growth, offering protection against bacteria such as Aspergillus niger, Campylobacter, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Legionella, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus Aureus or Salmonella enteritidis, among others.

The 3DFils manufacturing process guarantees excellent quality , with a standard deviation of 0.01 mm and a maximum tolerance of 0.03 mm, ensuring smooth, jam-free printing. Ovality below 1% allows for more uniform layer application, improving the final finish of the part.
